I hope that everyone who showed up at Scarby for Easter weekend had a blast, I sure did. The first day was chilly to start but then eventually got balmy, crowded, and busy. Swarms of people buzzed about, generally smiling and enjoying the atmosphere as one should when at faire. Unfortunately it would get so crowded at our particular booth that orders got severely messed up and people ended up waiting over twenty minutes for their potato. Anyone who was caught up in that I sincerely apologize and I hope that did not dampen their spirits.
Easter eve I spent with my dear friend Lady Kira in our shared tent, and in the wee hours of the morning a storm (of what I believe to be of legendary proportions) blew through. Lasting for several hours, the deluge was so heavy that rain started soaking through our supposedly water proof tent. While my friend and I had to make rushed dashes towards the toilet, a zipper managed to snag and a small gap was left in the bottom of the tent flap. Water poured through the gap and left a small layer of water on the bottom of the tent, my cellphone laid on the floor right below that minute gap. Buzzing uncontrollably, the cellphone electrically charged all the water at the bottom of the tent creating a small, slightly unpleasant, shock to the bottom of ones feet as they tread the floor. It was definitely an interesting experience as I groped around on the floor looking for my phone so that I may pop out the battery and attempt to save the sim card.
Easter morning was extremely muddy, and unsurprisingly slow, the majority of the people mulling about were employees that had little to no business and then were free to wander farie as they may. Even though that morning was damp and chilly, I still had a wonderful time as other employees would stop and chat with me and provide the most amusing topics and helpful advice. As afternoon approached the clouds dispersed and a dazzling blue sky made its debut. Crowds picked up and few patrons were to be seen having a delightful time. The day ended on a peaceful note as I spent the last few minutes at faire helping Lady Kira and Lady McAuthor "clean out" the salsa sample bowls.
I hope that I will see many of you next weekend, until then, may the road rise up to meet you.
Charity (Mildly Mad Madge)
